About the Winery

Cape Mentelle Vineyards (frequently alluded to just as Cape Mentelle) is an Australian winery based at Margaret River, in the Margaret River wine district of Western Australia. One of the most seasoned wineries in the area, it came to noticeable quality by winning the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy in both 1983 and 1984.The winery's first vintage was made by David Hohnen, in a little, exploratory, smashed earth shed. Hohnen's sibling, Giles, and engineer Tom Roberts needed to demonstrate that slammed earth was a suitable material for the territory. The winery takes its name from the close-by Cape, named by the French 'Baudin Expedition' which outlined the shoreline of Western Australia in 1801. They named the Cape after two remarkable French researchers, geographer Edmund and his cartographer sibling Francois-Simon Mentelle, who lived in Paris in the mid 1700's.

About the Wine

Cabernet Sauvignon is likely the well-known red wine grape variety on Earth. It is matched in this respect just by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its inverse number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its causes in Bordeaux, Cabernet has effectively spread to each wine-developing nation on the planet. It is currently the key grape assortment in numerous top notch New World wine areas, most quite Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they originate from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines dependably appear to show a modest bunch of regular character qualities; profound shading, great tannin structure, moderate causticity and smells of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dull flavors and cedarwood.
