About the Winery

Henschke is one of the longest settled family names in the Barossa and the Australian wine industry. Johann Christian Henschke initially planted vines in Keyneton in 1861, creating his first business vintage in 1868. The tradition of value wine-production has gone down through the eras – today seeing Stephen Henschke and his wife, Prue, as winemaker and viticulturist respectively. Awarded "International Red Winemaker of the Year" in 1996 at the London Wine Show, Stephen and Prue were in 2006, granted Gourmet Traveler WINE magazine's "Winemaker of the Year" in acknowledgment of wine-production greatness in both red and white wines. These Awards perceive the steady and proceeding with achievement of this striking couple. Prue has, throughout the previous 18 years, investigated and now utilizes both natural and bio-dynamic methods to maximize the potential for the fruit from these unique vineyards to completely express their individual terroirs.

About the Wine

Malbec grapes developed in the Eden Valley and Keyneton zone of the Barossa Ranges at the northern end of the Adelaide Hills, a cool atmosphere, high elevation region of South Australia. The bunch shows complex rich fruit characters. The palate is delicate, rich and very much adjusted, with inconspicuous oak coordination from development in little oak containers. This wine can possibly enhance in the bottle for a long time under the right cellaring conditions.
