About the Winery

Greenock Shiraz is manufactured in South Australia's Barossa Valley , by the Kalleske family who have been cultivating and developing grapes since the 1800's. It is a certified home wine - developed, vintage and matured on the Kalleskee state at Greenock.The 2002 developing season started with great winter and early spring rains and was trailed by a cooler than normal summer, with temperatures once in a while surpassing 30 degrees Celsius. This was trailed by a dry autumn with warm day sand cool evenings giving perfect maturing conditions permitting great flavor and shading development.The Greenock Shiraz Is sourced from single vineyard, situated on the out skirts of the Greenock town close to the Greenock town close to the Greenock Creek on the Western edge of the Barossa Valley. The vineyard comprises of shallow sandy soil over sublime dark red dirt giving perfect conditions to Shiraz vines.

About the Wine

The wine is appealing deep red black in color with purple tones. On the nose there are powerful plums aromatics with ready dark cherry  and dark berry fruit consolidated with espresso and chocolate and a clue of spice. The sense of taste is rich, ready and thick with finely textured tannins, exquisite dark fruit and integrated mocha barrel age characters. The wine is all around adjusted with astounding length and artfulness. A capable full-bodied excellent Barossa Valley Shiraz with awesome cellaring potential.
